I would recommend not starting books that arnt finished. Also, if you’re super big on punctuation things like that, i don’t recommend.

Prioritized Action Recommendations

High Priority:

  • Re-evaluate Pricing and Monetization: Conduct a thorough review of the coin and chapter pricing model. Consider offering a subscription option or lowering the cost of coins. Address the issues with bonus points and their short expiration times.
  • Improve Reward System: Make it easier to earn points and coins through reading and other activities. Increase the value of rewards and eliminate or extend the expiration dates.
  • Address Editing and Quality Control: Implement stricter quality control measures to ensure stories are well-edited and free of grammatical errors. Consider a system for users to report errors.
  • Provide Clear Currency Information: Provide a clear explanation of how points, coins, and bonus coins work within the app.

Medium Priority:

  • Address Unfinished Books: Clearly mark books as "completed" or "ongoing" and consider a refund policy for books abandoned by authors.
  • Implement Preview Options: Allow users to preview more of a chapter before purchasing.
  • Consider Whole Book Purchase: Offer the option to purchase entire books.
  • Fix the Login Issues: Address the issues with Facebook login.

Low Priority:

  • Add Audio Versions: Expand the availability of audiobooks.
  • Add Content Warnings: Implement content warnings for potentially traumatic themes.

Opportunities for Startup Ideas

  • AI-Powered Editing Tool for Authors: Develop an AI-powered editing tool specifically for authors on the platform to improve the quality of their writing.
  • Subscription-Based Romance Novel Service: Create a separate subscription service focused solely on romance novels, offering unlimited access for a monthly fee. This could be integrated with Dreame or offered as a standalone app.
  • Community-Driven Book Review Platform: Develop a feature within Dreame or a separate platform where users can write and share reviews of books, helping others make informed decisions about what to read.

Trends and Observations

  • Pricing Sensitivity: Users are highly sensitive to changes in pricing and reward systems. Any increases in cost or reductions in rewards are met with strong negative feedback.
  • "Doing it for the Points": A significant number of users admit to writing reviews solely for the points/coins, which could skew the overall rating.
  • Desire for Physical Books: Some users expressed a desire to purchase physical copies of the books they enjoy on the app, indicating an opportunity for merchandise or print-on-demand services.
  • Werewolf Romance Popularity: There are several mentions of werewolf stories, indicating a popular subgenre on the platform.
  • Language Preferences: There are reviews in both English and Spanish.

Conclusion

Dreame has a strong foundation with its vast library and engaging stories, but its current monetization strategy is alienating users. Addressing the pricing concerns and improving the reward system are crucial for retaining existing users and attracting new ones. By focusing on affordability, quality control, and user feedback, Dreame can solidify its position as a leading romance novel app.

Overall Recommendation: Revamp the pricing and reward system to be more user-friendly and affordable.
