This game is super fun but there’s a few things that stick out. First of all I think characters should be unlockable, maybe not all of them but a few more. Also please add more levels. This game has had the same amount of levels since it started and I think it would be really cool.

However, the overwhelming consensus is that the app is excessively monetized through frequent ads and a costly VIP subscription, significantly detracting from the user experience. Many users feel that essential features, such as access to a wider range of characters, are locked behind a paywall, leading to frustration. There is also a strong demand for more levels and additional content to keep the game engaging long-term.

Data & Methodology Overview

  • Data Sample Size: 500 reviews.
  • Time Frame: Reviews appear to span from 2018 to late 2023.
  • Analysis Methods: Manual review and thematic analysis of the provided text. This involved identifying recurring keywords, sentiments, and feature requests within the reviews. No automated sentiment analysis tools were used.

Key User Pain Points

  • Excessive Ads: The most common complaint is the sheer number of ads, which appear after almost every level and often interrupt the gameplay experience. Many find them annoying and disruptive.
  • High VIP Subscription Cost: The $7.99/week VIP subscription is considered excessively expensive, especially for a mobile game targeted at children. Users feel that the cost is disproportionate to the value offered.
  • Limited Free Characters: Many users are frustrated that only a small number of characters are available without paying for the VIP subscription. This limits the gameplay experience for non-paying users.
  • Repetitive Gameplay/Lack of New Levels: Several reviewers mention that the game becomes boring after completing all the levels, and they request more content updates.
  • Glitches and Bugs: Some users report glitches, such as control issues (swiping resulting in incorrect actions) or characters bumping into obstacles unexpectedly.
  • Inappropriate Ads: A few reviewers mentioned that some ads are scary or sexually suggestive, which is inappropriate for a game targeting children.
  • Misleading VIP Offers: Some reviews mention being promised VIP access for completing certain tasks (e.g., collecting cookies) but still being required to pay.
  • Sound Issues: Some users reported issues with the game's sound, with the music not playing.

Frequently Requested Features

  • More Free Characters: The most requested feature is the ability to unlock more characters without paying for the VIP subscription.
  • More Levels/Content Updates: Users want more levels, villains, and gameplay modes to keep the game fresh and engaging.
  • Monthly VIP Subscription Option: Many users suggest offering a monthly VIP subscription instead of a weekly one, as it would be more affordable.
  • Transform Cutscenes: Some reviewers wish for the inclusion of the transformation cutscenes from the show.
  • Improved Controls: Some players are experiencing control issues and want to see improved responsiveness.
  • More Bosses: Some players would like to see more boss battles added to the game.
  • Story Mode: A number of users suggested adding a story mode to the game.
  • Character-Specific Power-Ups: A number of users wish that power-ups would reflect the character being played (e.g., Cat Noir using his staff instead of Ladybug's yo-yo).

Strengths and Positive Aspects

  • Engaging Gameplay: Many users find the game fun and addictive, particularly fans of the Miraculous Ladybug series.
  • Faithful to the Show: Users appreciate that the game captures the essence of the show, including the characters and setting.
  • Variety of Characters: While many are locked behind a paywall, the game offers a decent selection of playable characters.
  • No Internet Required: Many players appreciate that the game can be played offline.
  • Fun Character Dances: The character selection screen, where each character performs a unique dance, is a well-liked feature.

Prioritized Action Recommendations

High Priority:

  • Reduce Ad Frequency: Significantly reduce the frequency of ads, especially after every level. Consider implementing a system where ads appear only after a certain number of levels or offer a one-time purchase to remove ads permanently (if the $1.99 option is not working as expected, fix it).
  • Re-evaluate VIP Pricing: Reconsider the pricing structure of the VIP subscription. A monthly option at a lower price point would be more appealing to a wider audience.
  • Increase Free Character Roster: Add more characters that can be unlocked through gameplay, without requiring the VIP subscription.
  • Address Glitches and Bugs: Fix the reported glitches, such as control issues and obstacles appearing unexpectedly.

Medium Priority:

  • Add More Levels/Content: Create new levels, villains, and gameplay modes to keep the game fresh and engaging.
  • Improve Character Animations: Enhance the character animations to improve the overall visual experience.
  • Implement User Feedback on Power-Ups: Make power-ups character-specific.
  • Investigate and Fix VIP Offer Issues: Ensure that users who are promised VIP access for completing tasks actually receive it.

Low Priority:

  • Add Transformation Cutscenes: Consider adding transformation cutscenes as an optional feature.
  • Lower Age Rating Concerns: Investigate if the game's age rating is appropriate, and if not, consider adjusting it accordingly.
