App bugs out frequently causing me not to be able to add locations or it aborts the search function completely. I face frequent issues of not being able to add or reorganize my locations until it perform a hard restart on the app. One day I logged on the app, and saw all my locations were shifted out of the section I placed them in. It is a frustrating app but when it works, it does its thing properly. I personally wouldn’t download this app until update patches are made.
We decided to put Wanderlog through its paces with a 19-day international, two-continent cruise taken with another couple. In total, we visited 8+ restaurants, 15+ activities, 5 hikes, and a rental car. All in all, I feel like this was a good test case. We already had most of our trip in TripIt, so I duplicated everything in Wanderlog shortly before the start of our vacation. Here are my pros & cons, specifically comparing it to TripIt, generally in order of importance. PROS: 1. The driving/walking time that automatically appears b/w activities, we used it all the time. 2. We used the expenses tracker to split the costs of shared meals/activites and it kept a running tally of who owed who. It even handles currency conversion. Such a great feature! 3. Very easy to add new activities and easy to add/change the “cover” photo for each activity. 4. The interface is very modern compared to TI. 5. The lists at the top and checklists are handy (but could be used for more). 6. The map view showing all your activities. 7. Add subtitles to each of your days. CONS: 1. In 2025, how in the world do you not have an iPhone widget or Apple Watch app so that you can use your trip planning app while on your trip. Just something so that you can see what you are doing currently and what you have upcoming. I have my suspicion why, and it relates to the nest two cons. 2. When you open the app while on your trip, it doesn’t automatically move you to the current day/time of your trip. 3. When you add a time to an activity, the app doesn’t automatically sort your activities for that day based on those times. The app essentially treats them as text fields. I really hope they update this in the future so that the app is more hopeful while ON your trip, and not just for planning. 4. When you put hotel and airline flights in the planner, it doesn’t put the check-in and flight times in-line for the days they occur based on their time. They are simply listed at the top of the day. 5. When you have a layover b/w flights, it doesn’t show how much time you have available between layovers. 6. The app assumes every activity you do has a location and that is not always the case. 7. Does not allow you to create custom icons for the various activities you have each day (dining, entertainment, etc) but it DOES allow you to do this for the lists at the top. Please extend this to the actual itinerary. 8. Finally, and this is more of a feature request than a con, I would love to see the lists you create at the top used in a more cohesive way with your actual itinerary. For example, let’s say you have lists at the top for Dining, Drinks, Activities, Hikes, etc. It would be cool if you could then add/copy them to your itinerary and then they are “linked”. So when you click on an activity from a list, it will take you directly to that item in your itinerary. Similarly, if you make a change in one of those items, it makes that the change in the other. In this way, you have the overview of all the things you’re doing at the top organized by Activity type but can then click on one of them to go directly to when you’re doing it in your plan. Fix the issues with the times and add Apple Watch/iPhone Widget support and this would be a 5-star app.
Please do yourself a favor and download this app for your next upcoming trip. The suggestions for attractions incl. open times, cost etc as well as distance to/from your previous/next location is amazing! We couldn’t have done this trip ao smoothly without it. Thank you Wanderlog
Wanderlog - Travel Planner is generally well-received, with users praising its organizational capabilities, map integration, and ease of use, especially for trip planning and collaboration. The app's strengths lie in its ability to consolidate travel information, suggest itineraries, and provide convenient features like email import and route optimization. However, some users report technical issues such as crashes, freezes, and bugs, as well as usability concerns related to the interface and onboarding process. There are also requests for more features, particularly around budgeting, printing, and calendar syncing.
