The physics are better than most flight simulators, but the graphics are really bad up close, and the tilt controls are VERY sensitive. But overall great simulator 10/10

Summary of Key Insights

Infinite Flight Simulator is a generally well-received mobile flight simulator, praised for its realistic physics, detailed aircraft models, and engaging community. However, the high cost of the Pro subscription and the limited number of free aircraft are significant pain points for many users. The tilt-based control scheme is also a common source of frustration, with many users requesting joystick support. While the app boasts realistic elements, users desire more immersive features like crash physics, dynamic weather, and more detailed scenery. Overall sentiment is positive but tempered by concerns about cost and control.

Key User Pain Points

  • High Subscription Cost: The most frequent complaint is the cost of the Infinite Flight Pro subscription. Many users feel that $10/month (or equivalent yearly cost) is too expensive, especially given the limited number of free aircraft and features. This prevents many potential users from experiencing the full capabilities of the simulator.
  • Limited Free Content: A significant number of users are dissatisfied with the limited selection of free aircraft and regions. They feel that the free version is too restrictive and doesn't provide enough content to justify the subscription cost. Some users also lament the removal of previously free aircraft behind the paywall.
  • Tilt-Based Controls: Many users find the tilt-based control scheme difficult and unnatural. They request the addition of joystick support or an on-screen virtual joystick as an alternative control method.
  • Lack of Tutorial: Several reviewers, especially new users, report difficulty learning how to fly the aircraft due to the absence of a comprehensive tutorial.
  • Bugs and Glitches: Some users report experiencing bugs and glitches, such as the game crashing, aircraft wobbling, autopilot malfunctions, and issues with loading replays. These issues detract from the overall user experience.
  • ATC Issues: A small subset of users expressed frustration regarding the quality and behavior of ATC (Air Traffic Control) within the game's multiplayer environment. They report issues with being unfairly issued violations and encountering unprofessional ATC personnel.

Frequently Requested Features

  • Joystick Support: The most frequently requested feature is the addition of joystick support or an on-screen virtual joystick as an alternative to tilt-based controls.
  • More Free Aircraft: Many users request a larger selection of free aircraft, including popular models like the A380, 777, and various cargo planes.
  • Crash Physics: A significant number of users want to see realistic crash physics and visual damage effects.
  • Dynamic Weather: Users request the addition of dynamic weather effects, such as rain, snow, thunderstorms, and realistic cloud formations.
  • More Detailed Scenery: Many users want more detailed scenery, including 3D buildings, cities, and terrain.
  • More Military Aircraft: A subset of users would like to see more military aircraft added to the game.
  • Cabin Lights/Interior Details: Some users request features like working cabin lights and more detailed aircraft interiors.

Strengths and Positive Aspects

  • Realistic Physics: Many users praise the game's realistic flight physics and handling.
  • Detailed Aircraft Models: The detailed aircraft models and liveries are a major draw for many users.
  • Engaging Community: The active and helpful community is a significant positive aspect of the game.
  • Global Multiplayer Experience: The ability to fly with other players in a global multiplayer environment is a popular feature.
  • Comprehensive Flight Simulation: The app offers a comprehensive flight simulation experience with features like real-world navigation data, customizable weather conditions, and an autopilot system.

Prioritized Action Recommendations

  • High Priority:
    • Implement Joystick Support: Addressing the widespread demand for joystick support or a virtual on-screen joystick would significantly improve the user experience and make the game more accessible to a wider audience.
    • Increase Free Content: Expanding the selection of free aircraft and regions would alleviate the perception that the game is too expensive and encourage more users to try the full version. Consider a rotating selection of free aircraft or limited-time access to premium features.
    • Address Bugs and Glitches: Prioritize fixing reported bugs and glitches to improve the overall stability and reliability of the game.
  • Medium Priority:
    • Develop a Tutorial: Creating a comprehensive tutorial would help new users learn how to fly the aircraft and navigate the game's features.
    • Add Crash Physics: Implementing realistic crash physics and visual damage effects would enhance the game's realism and immersion.
    • Implement Dynamic Weather: Adding dynamic weather effects would make the game more challenging and engaging.
    • Improve ATC Monitoring: Improving the system of ATC management would greatly help in diminishing the amount of unfair violations.
  • Low Priority:
    • Add More Detailed Scenery: While more detailed scenery would be a welcome addition, it is not as critical as addressing the other issues listed above.
    • Add More Military Aircraft: Adding more military aircraft would cater to a niche audience but may not appeal to the majority of users.
    • Cabin Lights/Interior Details: Implementing these features would enhance the game's realism but are not essential for gameplay.

Opportunities for Startup Ideas

  • Mobile Flight Simulator with Flexible Payment Options: A flight simulator that offers a variety of payment options, such as one-time purchases for individual aircraft or regions, could appeal to users who are unwilling to commit to a monthly subscription.
  • Community-Driven Flight Simulator: A flight simulator that allows users to create and share their own aircraft, scenery, and missions could foster a more engaged and creative community.
  • Flight Simulator with Integrated Training: A flight simulator that includes comprehensive training modules and certification programs could appeal to aspiring pilots.
  • Mobile Flight Simulator with Realistic Weather: A flight simulator that uses real-world weather data to create dynamic and challenging flying conditions could provide a more immersive experience.

Trends and Observations

  • Language Preferences: The reviews are predominantly in English, with some reviews in Chinese, Russian, Spanish and other languages. This suggests that the game has a global audience.
  • Subscription Fatigue: Many users express frustration with the subscription model, indicating a growing trend of "subscription fatigue" among mobile gamers.
  • Desire for Realism: Users consistently request more realistic features, such as crash physics, dynamic weather, and detailed scenery, indicating a strong desire for a more immersive simulation experience.
  • Control Preferences: The strong demand for joystick support suggests that many users prefer a more traditional control scheme over tilt-based controls.

Conclusion

Infinite Flight Simulator is a popular and well-regarded mobile flight simulator, but it faces significant challenges in terms of cost, control, and content. By addressing the key user pain points and implementing the prioritized action recommendations, the developers can improve the user experience, attract new players, and retain existing ones. The game has a strong foundation and a dedicated community, and with the right improvements, it can continue to be a leading mobile flight simulator.
